Report: LODDON WHITE DOLPHIN JUNIOR SWIMMING GALA
held on Saturday 10th March 2007 at Hobart High School Loddon

Club coach Mark Stone praised the courage and determination of Loddon White Dolpin junior swimmers at the club's annual gala held at Hobart High School. Parents and friends were there to support what was for many of the 79 swimmers their first gala.

6-Year-Olds

Tara Jenkins swam a strong freestyle to win ahead of Sophie Thurtell, second; Hannah Keeley third and Katherine English fourth. The close backstroke race saw Lilian Dorey take first place to Tara Jenkin's second place, Charlotte Hayes third and Bella Thompson fourth. Brandon Yallop secured the lead in both backstroke and freestyle followed by Stuart Clarke second, Joshua Burgess third and Daniel Siggins fourth in backstroke. In freestyle Daniel Siggins was second with Stuart Clarke third and Louis Edwards fourth. Good first gala performances from Katie Triggs, Alicia Gray, Maisie Ford, Sophie Todd, Louis Edwards, George Browne, Johnny Reynolds & Robert Innes

Trophy Awards: 'Michael Hogath' Johnny Reynolds; 'Most Improved Girl' Charlotte Hayes; 'Good Effort' Sophie Todd and 'First Class Gala Performance' Louis Edwards.

7-Year-Olds

Toby Currie gained double first in front crawl and backstroke with Alex Harper-Bourne and Ben Southgate taking second and third in front crawl and Morgan Crisp and Ben Southgate coming second and third in backstroke. Alex Harper-Bourne won boys' breaststroke. Double first went also to Alice Whitmore in girls' front crawl and breastroke with the unlucky Lottie Basey-Fisher taking second place in front crawl and breaststroke and Rachel Folkard and Siouxsie Littlewood third and fourth place in front crawl. Siouxsie Littlewood went on to win backstroke with Janna Saepy second, Phillipa English third and Rachel Folkard fourth place.

8-Year-Olds

Early leads secured Hudson Boothby first place in backstroke and front crawl. Second, third and fourth backstroke places were closely contested by Ryan Jenkins, Sam Ford and William Braidwood. Ben Hardesty took front crawl second with the well matched Luke Etheridge and Ryan Jenkins taking third and fourth places. Matthew Hayes won breaststroke with Oliver Bodie second. Ben Hardesty took butterfly first. Georgia Sargent and Evie Dix battled for first and second places in backstroke followed by Poppy Starling third and Tara Davis fourth. Front crawl was won by Tamara Stoner with Georgia Sargent second, Poppy Starling third and Evie Dix fourth. Good swim times from Tara Davis, Lydia Webb, Chloe Bell, Ellie-May Keywood, Katy Battell, William Evans and George Boyd.

9-Year-Olds

Strong swimming saw Alycia Middleton take the lead to win both front crawl and breaststroke with Abigail Currie second; Marie Taylor and Georgia Minister securing a closely fought third and fourth front crawl places. The unlucky Abigail took second in breaststroke with Ellie Andrews third and Hannah Myhill fourth. Lucie Reynolds won butterfly with Rosie Horne and Rosie Sapey coming a close second and third. Tiera Mai Rose gained first in backstroke followed by Georgia Minister second, Hannah Myhill third and Bethany Howe fourth. Firsts went to James Whitmore in backstroke and front crawl with backstroke second going to Jacob Sheridan, third place to Charlie Folkard and fourth place to Jamie Verhurst. Finlay Lawson came second in front crawl, Charlie Folkard third and Ollie Bradshaw fourth. Charlie Dorey took first in breaststroke. A closely swum butterfly race went to Jack Bush with Jacob Sheridan second. Exciting swimming from Rachel Organ, Paige Holmes, Adele Brown, Georgina Evans, Bethany Clarry, and Jake Yallop.
