AFFILIATION TO AMATEUR SWIMMING ASSOCIATION - ASA
All swimming clubs within England are being encouraged to be ASA Swim 21 accredited and the first step to secure this is to become affiliated to the ASA which is is the national kite mark among swim clubs.
Loddon White Dolphins is pleased to inform you the club has been accepted for ASA affiliation. The decision to affiliate has been made after much discussion and research over the past months and is a positive move towards securing the club's future. Benefits of ASA affiliation include access to the nationally recognised swimming body; comprehensive advice & guidance relating to good practice, legal and child protection and tailored insurance cover including civil liability, personal accident & legal advice.
Swim 21 will give the club numerous benefits including national recognition the club is providing a quality service; Sport England recognition of a safe, effective and child friendly club and use of best practice resource materials to enable us to help swimmers achieve their full potential. Swim 21 will also open up access to various sources of funding.
The cost of ASA affiliation will be £11.05 pa per child and will be payable over the 2 weeks Monday 11 January 2010 - Friday 22 January 2010. White Dolphins will as always, continue to keep term fees as low as possible so as to enable all families access to swimming. We understand these are difficult times and apologise for the timing of the extra expense however the club has a deadline with ASA for payment; it is a necessary step for the club and will help secure the club's future. White Dolphins re-opens on Monday 4th January 2010 - if a member is unable to continue swimming due to the additional cost or the additional fee causes a difficulty please speak to your child's teacher.
A pay desk will be set up from 11th January to collect the fee and complete ASA membership forms. Where possible could you kindly pay by cheque made out to "Loddon White Dolphin Swimming Club". Affiliation fees go entirely to the ASA and are divided between ASA national, regional and county swimming associations; the club does not receive any funding whatsoever from this amount.
Affiliation fees are payable once annually. If you child swims at another swimming club which is ASA affiliated it is very likely the fee can be avoided with White Dolphins. Please see the class teacher as soon as possible so we can take details.
