Report: LODDON WHITE DOLPHIN SENIOR SWIMMING GALA
held on Saturday 26th March 2007 at Hobart High School Loddon

Just a 0.1 second difference between 6 relay teams guaranteed an exhilarating and impressive afternoon of racing for parents and supporters at Loddon White Dolphins Senior Gala. Swim coach Mark Stone thanked parents for their ongoing support and applauded the youngsters' - aged 10 to 16 - commitment to training which ensured many best times being slashed.

10-Year-Olds

An early lead gave Amy Scott first place in backstroke with Rebecca Jones second, Katie Bailey third and Julia Brackenbury fourth. The close breaststroke was won by Emma Potts followed by Hannah Bradshaw second and Thea Steward third. Rachel Lovitt took butterfly. Julia Brackenbury and Rebecca Jones swam a close race for respective first and second places in front crawl with Kayla Pennell third and Katie Bailey fourth. Tom Sargent won front crawl and backstroke with Hayden Hembling-Baldwin taking second in backstroke.

11-Year-Olds

Charlotte Bodie and Naomi Church swam stroke-by-stroke in backstroke for respective first and second places with Bethany Cleghorn third and Megan Joyce fourth. The hard fought front crawl saw Naomi Church and Bethany Cleghorn battling for respective first and second place with Elizabeth Day third and Charlotte Harvey fourth. Elizabeth Day secured an early lead in breaststroke with Charlotte Bodie second and the unlucky Megan Joyce third. Charlotte Harvey won butterfly. Butterfly and front crawl went to George Webb with 0.75 second between Kori Moore, James Prewer-Andrews and William Chase in respective second, third and fourth front crawl places. William Chase won breaststroke with George Webb second and Kori Moore secured backstroke first.

12-Year-Olds

Double first went to Megan Miller in butterfly and backstroke. Megan pulled away on the last length of backstroke to win ahead of the unfortunate Libby Rose second and Holly Mason third. An early lead in breaststroke saw Faith Jennison secure first place with Megan Miller, second. Double firsts were also secured by Laura Shilling in front crawl and individual medley, with Libby Rose taking individual medley second. Double first went to Jez Prewer-Andrews in backstroke and front crawl.

13-Year-Olds

Katrina Clarke secured first in breaststroke and well fought seconds in backstroke and individual medley. Matthew Day took breaststroke; a powerful front crawl giving him his double first. Luke Nelson and Nathan Baldwin were well matched for respective second and third front crawl places. Luke Nelson secured first in backstroke.

14-Year-Olds

Solid swimming saw first and seconds go to girls' club captain Alice Jennison and club vice captain Rebecca Gray. Alice secured backstroke, individual medley and front crawl with Rebecca taking first in breaststroke. Rebecca took seconds in both the closely contested individual medley and hard fought front crawl.

15-Year-Olds & Over

A sound display from boys' club captain Matthew Miller ensured backstroke and butterfly wins with the unlucky Sam Brackenbury taking second in both.
